Ninety nine Rotarians, partners and guests attended the 2019-20 Changeover Dinner at the Royal Hotel, Drouin on Tuesday 25th June.
Outgoing President Merv Deppeler reflected on a pleasing year in which 'service' took a more prominent role in club life, compared to fundraising and disbursements. This in no small part due to bouts of bad weather and bushfires. But an enjoyable time was also had by all....and over $30,000 was distributed to the community and service projects.
But Merv said that the highlight was to celebrate 60 Years of Rotary Service by Keith Pretty OAM PSM PHF (Ruby) & Service-Above-Self recipient.

Assistant Governor Peter Dell installed Tim Wills as President for the coming year.

President Tim commenced his comments by thanking Merv Deppeler for the great year of friendship, fun and service have experienced under his guidance. He said had the pleasure of knowing since I arrived here in 1983, and worked alongside Merv through our time together in Apex…and added to his superannuation on many occasions. A modest man, but one who’s commitment and leadership have been clearly on display this year … another one of high achievement in most areas of endeavour. But again, we have greatly benefited from a ‘joint effort’, and to his Executive Assistant … thank you Jenny.

Tim shared his desire for members to fully engage in "service" and hopes many opportunities will be explored to work within Rotary's five avenues of service: club, community, international, vocational and youth.

Tim introduced the club's new Board of Management, noting that two were away in their caravans seeking warming conditions for a while.
