Drouin is a small close knit Community of around 4800 people. The district is famous for its dairy produce and recently a number of other gourmet food suppliers have banded together to form the 'Gourmet Deli Trails'. Within close proximity of each other you can feast on the best of meat, fruit and cheese products that the State has to offer.
Drouin has traditionally prospered as a friendly, quality service provider meeting local, regional and passing needs. Drouin, more than any other major town, still retains much of its rural character. Drouin is connected by rail service to Melbourne which provides for residential living within commuting distance of the Melbourne CBD. The majority of the expected population growth from the south eastern corridor could easily be catered for in Drouin (and Warragul).
Drouin is a central hub to some of the most incredible scenery and outdoor activities of any place in the world. From here you can travel one hour south, through some of the most picturesque mountain vistas you could imagine, to the ocean beaches and resorts. Or you could travel one hour north, through even more breathe taking scenery, to the snow fields and playground that is Mt. Baw Baw. A mere two hours further east and you will come to the famous Lakes region of Victoria with the best of accommodation, recreation, fishing and boating.
With its small retail sector Drouin already has sites available for further development and these need to be developed incrementally to support the town and ensure that it continues to meet local needs. Drouin has excellent facilities for a town of its size. These include extensive indoor and outdoor sporting and recreation facilities, private and public schools at both primary and secondary level and extensive community facilities.
Accommodation is available in many forms from caravan parks, Motels, Hotels and a growing number of excellent Bed and Breakfasts.
We've included a few of the more interesting links and hope you'll take time to visit.
The WELCOME mat is always out.
